Campybara is a sleep away summer camp rooted in nature appreciation, hands-on outdoor skills, and creative expression. Through shared experiences in the outdoors, campers build practical abilities, artistic confidence, and a strong sense of community and teamwork.
Daily activities include hiking, swimming, whittling, archery, watercolor painting, fire-starting, linoleum carving, singing around the campfire, making s’mores, and much more.
A central goal of Campybara is to help campers become confident and capable in a camping environment. Campers actively participate in all aspects of camp setup and daily living. By the end of the week, in addition to enjoying the outdoors and creating meaningful artwork, campers will know how to set up a tent, roll a sleeping bag, pack a daypack for a hike, cook meals, clean their own dishes, safely start and properly extinguish a fire, and practice other essential outdoor skills.
Founded by Erika and Yaniv Singer, Campybara draws on more than 40 years of combined experience sharing a love of the natural sciences, art, and the outdoors with children. The capybara is an animal that feels at home both in water and on land. We decided to embrace our inner capybaras by accepting that we too can live in two places at the same time. Our school years are spent living in Israel, and our summers are spent camping with our three children on the west coast of the United States.
Safety is our highest priority. Both founders are certified in Wilderness First Aid (WFA), and Yaniv has also been certified as a life guard.
Come have an unforgettable week with us!
